President’s Message

General Meetings

For July 3, because this year the meeting date falls the day before the Friday, July 4, Independence Day holiday, your SCSCC Board decided to have no general meeting.

Our August 7 meeting will feature Gene Barlow discussing and demonstrating his recommended best way for end users to backup their computers hard drive to prevent serious loss of important files.  See the General Meeting article for more details.

Membership

As of June 21, our 2008 SCSCC paid memberships total 1192.

Tuesday Open Lab moving to Wednesdays in August

Beginning in August, the Tuesday morning Open Lab will move to Wednesdays at 9 AM.  This will even out the spacing between the three Open Lab sessions.

Hardware SIG Attendees – Start Time

Our Hardware SIG / Repair Lab meets on Tuesday afternoons from 1PM to 4PM.  The team does a great job helping our members with solving hardware and software issues.  The doors are usually open about 12:30PM.  We ask members seeking help to be courteous to fellow members.  Do not come earlier than 12:30 PM because this may disrupt other earlier sessions that are going on.  Also, even if the lab room is open, we ask you to please go only to the computer club classroom.

Education Activities for July

As usual, we have a great line-up of classes, seminars and SIGs for July.  See the July calendar as well as the Seminars, Classes and “SIGs and KKs” pages for full details.  Our education program is one of the great benefits of belonging to the Club.  No matter what your experience or skill level, you should find something to suit your needs.

Mac Corner

I’d like to welcome and thank Ed Rogers for taking over the Mac Corner column.  Ed is a long time member, recent Mac convert and an all-around computer enthusiast.  His first column is in this edition of the Gazette.
